Qasr Al Watan, meaning “Palace of the Nation,” stands as the presidential palace of the UAE, located in Abu Dhabi. The palace, completed in 2017, originally served as a venue for welcoming international leaders. In 2019, a portion of Qasr Al Watan opened to the public, providing visitors with a glimpse into the nation’s heritage and stunning architecture. Since then, it has earned a place among the top 20 art and cultural landmarks worldwide, according to Hotels and Rest.

Furthermore, the palace received a nomination for the World Travel Awards as one of the Middle East’s most important cultural attractions.

What to Expect During Your Visit

Upon entering through the visitor’s gate, you will confirm your tickets and proceed through the security check. A shuttle bus will take you to the palace entrance, where the sight of the majestic white gateway, topped with a grand dome, immediately catches your attention. As you move further inside, you will witness the splendor of the palace’s central dome, along with the eastern and western wings.

As you approach the palace, the beautiful water fountains on either side of the entrance road enhance the scenery. Inside, the palace features magnificent marble floors, grand chandeliers, and vast archways, which transport you into an almost fairytale-like atmosphere.

Inside the Great Hall, you will be amazed by the enormous 37-meter-diameter dome and the intricate crystal chandelier containing 350,000 pieces. Additionally, the eastern and western wings invite you to explore rooms such as the “House of Knowledge,” the banquet hall, and the presidential gifts room. To conclude your visit, time your day to witness the breathtaking light and sound show, starting at 8:15 PM.

• Food and drinks are not allowed inside the palace.
• Opening hours: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM.
• The light show begins at 8:15 PM.
• UAE residents must use the Al Hosn app. Tourists need an RT-PCR report and vaccination certificate, with the PCR test taken within the last 96 hours.
